Achtergrond van het onderzoek
Placing an implant in the anterior region of the maxillary alveolar processus can be restricted by morphologeous deficiencies such as soft bone in fresh extraction sockets or facial undercuts in the anterior region of the jaw. The Straumann Bone Level Implants (BLT) appear to give excellent clinical, radiographic and aesthetic results in the posterior zone.
The objective of this study is to evaluate the clincial performance of Straumann Bone Level Tapered implants in the aesthetic region placed in 1) augmented extraction sockets and 2) heald sites in a prospective case series of 60 participants. 30 patients in both observation groups.
All patients will be treated with a BLT implant in the maxilla according to a template. In addition, the first group will receive a treatment for bone augmentation to gain enough initial stability for implant placement.

all patients will receive a Bone Level Tapered implant in the anterior zone and were followed for 12 months. The participants with a failing tooth received reconstructive bone abumentation (socket preservation) after extraction

Belangrijkste voorwaarden om deel te mogen nemen (Inclusiecriteria)
1) one missing or failing tooth being an incisor, canine or first premolar in the maxilla with
neighbouring natural teeth;
2) presence of a defect of the buccal bone wall as noticed immediately after tooth extraction (not applicable for cases with a missing tooth);
3) at least 18 year of age;
4) ASA score ≤ 2 (Smeets et al. 1998);
5) adequate oral hygiene, i.e. Plaque Index Score (Silness and Loё, 1964) and Gingival Index
Score (Silness and Loё, 1964) ≤ 1;
6) mesial-distal width of diastema at least 6 mm;
7) patient is capable of understanding and giving informed consent
Belangrijkste redenen om niet deel te kunnen nemen (Exclusiecriteria)
1) smoking;
2) a history of radiotherapy to the head and neck region;
3) use of intravenous bisphosphonates shorter than 10 years ago.
