Primary outcome
Uptake value of radio-active IL-2
Secondary outcome
Comparison between SPECT and IP-guardian camera
Background summary
A coratid stenosis will only cause complaints in case of embolisation of plauqe
material. Not the stenosis severity but the vulnerability is an important
factor in embolisation. With radio-active IL-2 vulnerability can be detected.
At this moment it is unclear if this methode is usefull in patients on longterm
statin therapy.
Study objective
Evaluation whether there is 99mTc-IL2 uptake in vulnerable carotid plaques of
patients on long-term treatment with statins.
Study design
mono-center observatonal pilot study
Study burden and risks
The only extra burden is the IL-2 scan. One hour after injection the patients
will be scanned during a 45 minute period. The total duration will approximate
2 hours.
