Outcome measures
Primary outcome
Large vessel occlusion (LVO) in anterior circulation (ICA, MCA, M1, M2, A1, A2)
Secondary outcome
- LVO in posterior circulation, A1, A2
- Final diagnosis (ischemic stroke, hemorrhagic stroke, TIA, stroke mimic)
- Given treatment (intravenous alteplase, thrombectomy, corresponding treatment times)
- Functional outcome (90-day modified Rankin Scale)
Background summary
The effect of endovascular treatment (EVT) for patients with acute ischemic stroke due to an intracranial large vessel occlusion (LVO) in the anterior circulation decreases strongly over time. Early identification of patients with an LVO could allow for direct transportation of these patients to an endovascular capable centre. We aim to externally validate prehospital stroke scales that predict the likelihood of LVO in the prehospital setting.
Study objective
The primary objective of this study is to prospectively validate several prehospital stroke scales simultaneously to assess their accuracy in predicting the likelihood of having a clinical diagnosis of ischemic stroke caused by an intracranial LVO in the prehospital setting.

- 3 month follow up (only in patients with ischemic stroke)

None
