Treatment strategies used to reduce the level of fatigue
Background summary
Fatigue is a frequently present symptom among patients with chronic disease, and can be the most debilitating part of a disease. Indeed, fatigue is often rated by patients as one of the key factors leading to an impaired quality of life. However, because of the subjective nature of fatigue and the lack of specific therapies to treat fatigue, it is often overlooked or ignored by clinicians. The aim of this study is to provide more insight in the prevalence of fatigue in patients with chronic diseases. Furthermore, we aim to provide insight in treatment strategies used by patients used to reduce fatigue. This study is part of the 'ZonMw/SGF Kennissynthese Vermoeidheid bij chronische ziekten'.
Study objective
A priori, we hypothesize that fatigue is highly prevalent in patients with chronic diseases and little is known on effective treatment strategies to reduce fatigue.
